Pursue charges? After 40 years? Do people in this country really not know about the Statute of Limitations laws? And to use one's ignorance of the laws as justification to condemn someone for not going forward it really stupid. What proof would he have 40 years later? Come on people! It's fruitless so why bother. And because he didn't name the person on television doesn't mean that the person is not known to his family and close friends. There isn't really a need to live one's life in public.

As far as the Jeff Perry incident, again we in this country have laws that protect the alleged criminal... they are innocent until proven guilty. Standing by while someone commits an atrocious act of assault on another is reprehensible for sure, but is it illegal if it is deemed after investigation that no crime took place? Trying someone in a court of public opinion is not fair nor right nor legal.

All in all whether he admits it now or later, we know that statistically one out of 4 female children is sexually assaulted by the time she is 18, and it is said that 1 out of 7 male children is also sexually assaulted. From my work in the field I disagree. I think it is 1 out of 2 females and 1 out of 3 males. Most sexual assaults are not reported until many years later if at all and those late reports are generally unable to be prosecuted, so they are not counted in crime statistics as sexual assaults. There are a lot of freaky men in this world that victimize children of both genders. Parents, watch your children closely. Don't trust anyone, especially those you think you SHOULD trust like family and friends. If you notice your child acting wierd all of a sudden, take them to the doctor for a medical examination. Don't pretend you don't know.
